Q&A: Is Monster HDMI Cable worth it for a new LCD 1080p TV?

Question by jpchurch34: Is Monster HDMI Cable worth it for a new LCD 1080p TV?
Is expensive Monster HDMI Cable worth it? For a Samsung 4071, 1080p LCD. 120 Hz refresh rate. $ 2,000 tv. $ 100 cable!?!?

Answer by Ü
Here is something I found on CNET that should help:

“In the store, you’ll probably hear a salesperson tell you to get extra cables. That’s because overpriced cables are one of the few areas where electronics stores can turn a big profit. In reality, cable quality matters very little, especially with digital cables such as HDMI. Since many stores don’t even carry lower-priced cable alternatives, we recommend shopping for cables online and buying based on price from a vendor with a good return policy.”

I hope I helped :]

I have a new LG 1080p LCD tv, will it cause problems if I cover the “intelligent eye” and the remote control

Question by rastapunker: I have a new LG 1080p LCD tv, will it cause problems if I cover the “intelligent eye” and the remote control
I would like to build a frame to place in front of my tv, but it would cover the “intelligent eye (adjusts picture according to the surounding conditions) and the remote control sensor. How much of a problem would these things really be?

Best answer:

Answer by TV TECH-man®
There are BYPASSES to your dilemma….

First, go into your menu and turn off the Intelligent eye and it won’t make your picture “milky” looking when you cover it up or make the picture go too dark….

Then you WILL NEED to get an Infra-red EXTENDER or reciever to place in front of the TV’s Infra-red reciever and attach the other reciever end in an inconspicuous place.
WHY? Because without the extender, your remote will not operate at all….
You can drill a hole right in front of the Infra-red reciever on your TV set, but that’s going to be a little more obvious looking…

These suggestions will make your TV work correctly….

Q&A: Plan to buy a 1080p LCD TV, I also plan to use it as my monitor for my pc. bad for the the TV?

Question by : Plan to buy a 1080p LCD TV, I also plan to use it as my monitor for my pc. bad for the the TV?
I heard that TVs are not meant to be used as monitors for long periods of time/ very often. Heard this from word of mouth but my question is, is it true. should I not buy a LCD TV and use it as a monitor as well?

Best answer:

Answer by A
This depends on the type of display. Certain displays, such as plasma displays can be damaged by having a static image on them for a long time. They end up looking like an old cash machine screen does – with the image permanently etched into the screen.

Is This Living Room Big Enough for My TV?

Is This Living Room Big Enough for My TV?
There was a 25-inch model, but having a TV that big seemed vulgar. When I would ask my father why he didn't splash out for the bigger set, he would say, “Who am I, George Lucas?” It seems almost quaint now. These days you would be hard-pressed to even …

I myself went all out and bought monster cables. I spend $ 6,000.00 on a system and and extra $ 200.00 seemed worth it. And I did see a difference from my son’s cheap pair to my set. People will say buy cheap but they must need glasses or not a very good TV.

How much would it cost to repair a 42 in 1080p LCD tv?

Question by ArmyWife: How much would it cost to repair a 42 in 1080p LCD tv?
A friend of mine gave me a TV and I want to get it fixed. It turned on but then immediately turned off. There is power running through it but now it just wont turn on. We replaced a fuse in it and my husband said it blew the fuse. So, I am going to take it to get fixed I just need to know an estimate of how much it will cost. Any info would help. Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by Frank
Really depends on where you are and who you talk to … if it’s just a blown fuse than the most expensive bill may be time / labor. I would guestimate something in the neighborhood of $ 60 USD ??? ask around – mention you’ve repaired it once before but your husband is deployed – hopefully get a sympathetic ear and inexpensive estimate.

BTW, if it is a repeat issue than the problem may be a faulty power supply, that would cost more in Time / Material / Labor but yield long lasting results.

Good luck
