Why is the image on my HD tv chopped off?

Question by kimchee_boi: Why is the image on my HD tv chopped off?
My dad has a Sharp Aquos series HD tv connected to Charter cable box. The box is connected to the tv via component cables. Whenever he switches to HD mode the tv will lose about an inch of viewing from both the top and bottom of the tv.

I verified the tv is in the default viewing mode and that it’s not being stretched. Any ideas?

make sure the tv settings is 16:9 and if that doesnt help than that means when it shrinks or cuts off a bit, that means the program or tv show or whatever your watching was not broadcasted in HD

Why will tvs in the same house and hooked to the same outdoor antenna pick up different amounts of channels?

Question by culpforty: Why will tvs in the same house and hooked to the same outdoor antenna pick up different amounts of channels?
Some of the tv’s in my house get more channels than the other ones. Is it because of the different converter boxes on the different tvs?

Best answer:

Answer by ƒïṿε ḋøllαɾ ƒøøτ løṉģ
The tuners built into them have different capabilities, or the cable may be longer, or have more splitters/barrels in them. The converter boxes may be the issue, if so you can switch them to test this theory.
