Normally LCD HDTV are available in 40inch if you want 42 inch there are LG for your choice.The best one is LG 42LH55 42-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV or for good price LG 42LH40 42-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV is a good choice.

if your dead set on 40 inches, you are limited to samsungs 40 led or sonys 40 led, if you go samsung it would be the d7000 or d8000 model, if you go sony it would be nx800/nx900 or hx800/hx900. both manufactures though havnt made most of those models yet so you might have to wait. if you can go up to 42 then i would look at a panasonic plasma gt35 series, it will give you the best picture for a 42 especially for bluray/gaming etc.

Recently I bought a dynex lcd tv. However, I don’t fell comfortable with that brand. I want a 26” lcd tv but my budget is around 300$ . So far the only brands that sell tvs for that price that i know of are vizio,sanyo,insignia,dynex,rca,and sylvania. Which of these is the most reliable brand? Do you have any other suggestions? I don’t want to buy the tv online so please keep that in mind. Thanks.

I would go with Vizio or Sanyo. Those are both two quality brands that are trusted. I sell tv’s for a living and we don’t get many returns with those. Dynex is terrible Best Buy stuff. Don’t buy it.
Stay away from Emerson as well.
You may be able to find a cheap 26′ Phillips tv as well. They are also reliable.

The first thing you should do is to get a copy of consumer reports magazine that rate flat screen tv’s. Don’t even think about buying one without seeing which are the best. There are dozens of manufacturers and sizes. Know what’s best before you buy.

When I walk into Costco I see that a 37″ VIZIO 1080P looks sharper and clearer than my 52″ Samsung with a BLU Ray?? Is this because my TV was not professionally calibrated after it was installed at my home? Any suggestions? I dont want to pay $ 400 bucks to have it done.

The televisions are set according to the lighting of the factory warehouse thats why they look good in stores the lighting is the same from factory to store showroom floor… yes it would be recommended to have your unit calibrated due to the fact that one samsung color scheme sucks and they crazy with there IRE levels just to get you to buy them.. THere the worst manufacter ever.. and the calibration only cost 250 if you go to best buy

you dont need to invest in to it so soon. xbox 360 attached to hdtv via component input shows great picture. hddvd and blueray are two new upcoming formats but still a lot of controversy going on now. so better wait and enjoy normal dvds on 360 via component cable and relax.

You can not go higher rating than the TV is capable of handling. If you try, you will get nothing but snow or static. The best picture would be for you to use the RGB cables, and have both the TV and the Xbox set on 720p.
