How much does tax on a tv usually cost, and what do you think of these two tv’s?

Question by ucxsundae: How much does tax on a tv usually cost, and what do you think of these two tv’s?
I’m 16, and I’m planning on buying a new 3d tv, and I need to know how much the tax on this tv is going to be because I’m going to be on a $ 3000 budget. That’s probably what I’ll make this summer since I’m only working two months. The links for the two tv’s I’m debating about are below. Which do you prefer? I want a tv with amazing breathtaking picture, and at least above average 3d visuals. Which tv is right for me? I notice that the cheaper one is plasma, and the more expensive one is led-lcd hd. Is the led-lcdhd tv more expensive because its picture quality is better? What’s up with that? The led-lcd tv’s customer reviews say that the picture is unbelievable. Does the led-lcd tv make the plasma one look ugly when they’re compared? Does plasma suck? Which do I buy? I’d like to buy the cheaper one so I can have some leftover money to buy some extra stuff, but I don’t want to buy it if it sucks asss. lol Don’t forget to answer the tax question. I live in California if that helps. Thanks.

Plasma (cheaper) – http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+50%22+Class+/+1080p+/+600Hz+/+3D+Plasma+HDTV/9809723.p?id=1218177168447&skuId=9809723

LED-LCD HD TV – http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+46%22+Class+/+1080p+/+240Hz+/+3D+LED-LCD+HDTV/9843853.p?id=1218182337019&skuId=9843853
By the way, if you have had experience with these new 3f tv’s, can you give me a link to the one that you think is best? And do you think the tax would be on this one? The bigger the tv (in inches), the harder my penis gets. If the plasma one fits my standards though, I may just go with that one.

Plasmas are cheaper because…..well…they are “older” tech, being around for a long time in the bigger sizes. LED LCD sets are just the newest things out there, latest tech. One thing to keep in mind is that for action/sports/etc plasmas still blow any lcd tv out of the water with image clarity (less blurriness). That ledlcd has a 240hz refresh rate, whereas that plasma has a 600hz subfield motion refresh rate. the higher the number the more times an image is displayed on the screen for clearer transition from one frame to another. with led sets, the dynamic contrast ratio plasmas had that no one could touch is being provided by leds. so between the two as far as darker blacks and whitest whites i’d say they both are comparable. another thing to plasmas are that they are faster in response time for switching from the darkest dark to whitest white, in this case .001 ms. lcd sets are usually like .4 or .04, considerably less. im a fan of plasmas, expecially for movies and tv watching. great for gaming too.

you’re gonna get people who cry about burn in, which, it still can happen on newer sets but takes a considerable amount of time for it to happen. and samsung along with other manufacturers have built in features on the tv to combat that. one being pixel shift and a scrolling bar. led’s will use about 40% less energy than a traditional lcd set, and lcd sets use about half of that of a plasma (i forget exact numbers). and a plasma without calibration will cost about 60ish dollars to run during an entire year….a whole year. not that big of an issue these days, just change out two or three lightbulbs to energy saver ones and you’ll more than make up for it.

longevity will be about the same. it’s funny how many people walk into our store and say plasmas only last 2 or three years. Your big names like panasonic and samsung rate their plasmas from about 60k to a little over 100k hours. same goes for both ledlcds and lcd sets. chances are you’ll switch out your tv way before then.

true, plasmas arent to be layed down, aren’t recommended for high altitudes (over 6.5k ft or something like that). but theyre picture is still amazing. check out the demo bb has for samsungs and Panasonic for 3d sets.

size wise, ppl are saying led’s thinness is the way to go and anything else is silly. well, plasmas are getting thing too, less than 1.5 inches, in fact the plasma you selected is one of those thin models, Panasonic has sets like that also.

Plasmas ftw. and oh. 3d? why? gotta buy glasses that are, for now 150ish a piece..although samsung hasthat free 3d kit when you buy the 3d blu ray player. unless you have a player that’ll just need firmware upgrade to handle it.

Does a contrast ratio matter that much for a 32 or 37 inch LCD?

Question by JayT: Does a contrast ratio matter that much for a 32 or 37 inch LCD?
I’m only talking a difference of between a 18,000 or a 20,000. The 20,000 is about 50 bucks more vs. the 18,000 model. Just wondering if it would make a difference? I am thinking of a good name brand like Panasonic but they don’t go nuts on 100,000 contrast ratio like other brands as they use a different technology, possibly.

Best answer:

Answer by kk6644k444
too many measurement standard contrast ratio.
normal / common as DCR ( dynamic contrast ratio ) .
even DCR can be measurement at difference lighting condition.
don’t based on specifications or review to select TV. end up you may disappointed ..
as may type of measurement standard to confuse consumers.
review is based on ” one way ticket ” ,there never compare to same range other products. also never consider reliability.
all the ” NAME BRAND ” can be trusted. because of ” worldwide ” market . to them quality is more important than prices . there manufactures TV by OWN from end to end ,
to our eye , any things above 50,000 : 1 DCR is enough to our eye.
for 32 inc / 37 inc better go for 1080P models. as 1080 P models always better display than 720P models. don’t think ” our eye can never get any difference from small screen between 1080P / 720P , is total quality from TV.
if you need more smooth pictures from sports movies , you need 120 HZ refresh rate to cover the motion blur. standard 60 HZ refresh rate models is not really good for sports movies, that kind of motion blur may make you eye uncomfortable.
forger about specifications , make it sample >
Samsung / LG / Sony / Sharp / Panasonic / Toshiba are equally great in 32 inc / 37 inc LCD / LED TV.
standard 720P 60 HZ models are entry level models.
1080 P 60 HZ just better display quality, but not really good for sports movies.
1080P 120 HZ as mid-hi end models better smooth pictures .
LED ( LCD -LED black-light ) much better in contrast ration / brightness and better colour display
budget allow , you should go for Samsung / Sharp / LG / Sony / Sharp 32 / 37 inc LED TV.
37 inc ?
consider 42 inc Panasonic Plasma . BEST in total performance and prices. none of any LCD TV close to it pictures quality. except LED TV closed to it Quality.but much more in $ .

How much more energy does a Plasma TV consumer compared to a LCD TV?

Question by Harish: How much more energy does a Plasma TV consumer compared to a LCD TV?
How much more energy does a Plasma TV consumer compared to a LCD TV? Everyone says Plasma consumes more energy than a LCD, but by how much? Twice as much as a LCD? Newer versions of plasmas are now ‘Energy Certified”, does that mean they still consumer more energy than LCD, but overall, does not take that much compared to a traditional CRT TV?

Best answer:

Answer by Elyakim L
A CRT TV uses a lot of energy. The initial power up takes a big jolt and from there it sustains itself while wasting more energy. Think of it as a Incandescent light bulb, putting out heat. When that wasted energy on heat could be used to help output more lumens. I don’t know much about plasmas because I don’t think they will be around much longer, once laser diode TVs are developed that is. Laser diode TVs are still being researched, but once created they will be as brilliant as a plasma and as long lasting as a LCD TV (liquid crystal display).

To find out the wattage you need to use the equation P=I*E
“P” is equivalent to Power “I” is equivalent to Current and “E” is equivalent to voltage. “P” is expressed in Watts, “I” is expressed in Amps and “E” is expressed in Volts.

Standard wall outlets put out about 120 Volts of Alternating current. All you need to know is how much amps this unit consumes. Look on the back of the TV and it should give you an amp reading. Multiply this number by 120V and you should get your answer in Watts. Keep in mind that Sometimes Amps are expressed in mAh (milli amperes)

So an old CRT TV would consume a lot more power compared to a LCD flat screen tv of the same size. An LCD is energy efficient just like those weird Compact Flourescent Light bulbs.
