Question by ArmyWife: How much would it cost to repair a 42 in 1080p LCD tv?
A friend of mine gave me a TV and I want to get it fixed. It turned on but then immediately turned off. There is power running through it but now it just wont turn on. We replaced a fuse in it and my husband said it blew the fuse. So, I am going to take it to get fixed I just need to know an estimate of how much it will cost. Any info would help. Thanks!

Really depends on where you are and who you talk to … if it’s just a blown fuse than the most expensive bill may be time / labor. I would guestimate something in the neighborhood of $ 60 USD ??? ask around – mention you’ve repaired it once before but your husband is deployed – hopefully get a sympathetic ear and inexpensive estimate.

BTW, if it is a repeat issue than the problem may be a faulty power supply, that would cost more in Time / Material / Labor but yield long lasting results.

The reason I’m asking this, is because I’m going to get a 32 inch LCD HDTV, with a resolution of 720p, which is a Panasonic Viera. Is 720p, considered to be HD? Or, does it only apply to 1080p? Thanks.

720p is HD
it will look good if you connect using HDMI
i had mines hooked up to 32 inch samsung LCD it looked good
see if you can find a plasma since they are better for gaming due to faster refresh rate

Would a 40″ 1080p Sony Bravia LCD HDTV (Model number: KDL40V4100) be good for gaming? Specifically Halo 3 on xbox 360? I’m really into this game but am interested in purchasing this tv. Would the lag of such a big tv/the size itself hurt my gameplay much?

i haven’t really seen good places to find led-lcd tv’s but i want to get
a 32 inch led-lcd hdtv that goes up to 1080p
120hz
internet
Dynamic Contrast Ratio above 150,000:
3 hdmi
and probably sony

I’m looking to get a TV for college and I’m going for either a 26 or 32 inch. I know there are alot of new technologies in LED TVs and I was wondering if these technologies would give the LED an advantage over an LCD TV that is 1080p compared to the LEDs lower resolution of 720p.

any tv smaller than 42″ you can’t tell the difference between 720 and 1080. So get the LED because of the better technology behind it. (Low energy, deeper blacks, higher visual quality)

I have read great reviews about and am happy with a recently purchased Vizio LCD. When you are checking them out, be sure to view analog channels as well as digital.

I need to upgrade on a T.V very badly, The one in my house dates back to 1994, I’m buying the PS3 and the T.V system, I just need advice from you gamers if a 32″ would be alright. Someone said 40″ but i just want something simple but at the same time get the best quality of the game.

Yes it should, but at the moment many games may not reach the maximum limit of 1080p/i 120Hz.

They usually run 720p 60Hz, basically the TV would have enough room for the PS3 games to upgrade to such refresh rates.

So, if you DECIDE to get the 120Hz TV, you shouldn’t have to worry about going 60Hz to 120Hz.

Also check out the Sony Bravia’s/ XDR series, those should also be 120Hz

Oh, the luxury. When I was growing up in the 1950′s a large TV was 21″. The 32″ should be OK unless your vision is really bad or your room is a very large. Go to the store and look at a few TVs and pick what you like. If you have to keep turning your head to see the whole picture, that screen might be too big.

Usually with broken screens on most appliances it would cost more the buy a new one
